Meet Chef Ray: The Flavor Boss Behind Harmony Provisions Kitchen 🔥👩🏽🍳

Born in Decatur, GA,  in 1996—the same year the Olympics came to town—Chef Jasmine Ray (aka Chef Ray or Auntie Rae) grew up with deep island roots, discipline from two U.S. Marine parents—one from Rochester, NY, and the other from Newnan, GA—and a love for food that started in her family kitchen.

Her journey started long before culinary school. Before she became a trained chef at Escoffier Culinary Arts, before she became a Junior Olympic gold medalist in Taekwondo, and even before she went through a jaw-dropping transformation—going from 183 pounds to 125 pounds in just 90 days while recovering from a major accident.

With the support of her Hānai mother, Mama Purcey, Chef Ray brings a Boricua, Hawaiian, and West Indian touch to every dish, ensuring that every meal feels like home.

Helping Those Who Need It Most 💛

Chef Ray specializes in crafting meals for those who need them most—including clients with Scleroderma and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) who struggle to cook but want to reclaim their health. By making nutritious, flavorful meals accessible, Harmony Provisions Kitchen is helping people eat well, feel good, and live better.

💪 The Fitness Journey That Changed Everything

Even at a young age, Chef Ray knew what it was like to sacrifice her favorite meals for competition. From ages 11 to 17, she had to restrict what she ate to prepare for national Taekwondo championships.

But because she lacked a structured meal prep plan, the results never lasted. She had restrictions—but no real system.

She wasn’t the only one struggling with food balance.

Her mother, Denise—a former active Marine—battled chronic pain and weight struggles for most of Chef Ray’s childhood. It wasn’t until she found a trainer who could work with her disabilities and adopted a structured meal prep system—batch cooking once a week, just like Chef Ray—that she saw real progress.

That was a lightbulb moment for Chef Ray.

“Getting results is 90% what you eat and 10% what you do.”

That mindset shift changed everything.

When Chef Ray began eating 5 to 7 meals a day, all prepped in one day for the entire week, that’s when she began to see and produce the most results.

This structured approach to meal prep maximized her energy levels, fat loss, and muscle retention, proving that consistency in nutrition was the missing key to her transformation.

A Chef with Flavor & Fire 🔥

Chef Ray specializes in  Grilled meats, Arroz con Pollo (Chicken and Rice), and Puerto Rican meat pies—but let’s be real, anything she makes slaps.

Her culinary education at Escoffier took her skills beyond the basics, helping her understand the "why" behind cooking techniques while embracing the creativity, fun, and continuous learning that comes with being a chef.

Cooking isn’t just about following a recipe—it’s about understanding flavors, techniques, and cultural influences to create something truly special.

The Women Who Shaped the Flavor Boss 🌎⭐

The matriarchs in Chef Ray’s family have truly shaped who she is—passing down generations of love, resilience, and culinary mastery. Their influence is deeply woven into Harmony Provisions Kitchen, ensuring that every meal tells a story of heritage, tradition, and heart.

The Essence of Island Flavor 🌴

Cita, Chef Ray’s grandmother, is the heartbeat of Harmony’s Latin and Caribbean influences. A beautiful island breeze from St. Kitts, Cita’s kitchen was always filled with the aroma of slow-cooked stews, perfectly brined fish, and the spices of the Caribbean.

Her beloved Salt Fish and Dumplings, Fried Brined King Fish, Curry Goat, Fried Lamb Chops, homemade Pique, and breakfast sandwiches for road trips back to Atlanta from Rochester, NY, where she resides, are some of Chef Ray’s most treasured culinary memories.

Even now, Cita continues to pour into Chef Ray’s culinary journey, regularly sending new kitchen gadgets and recipes to try. But Chef Ray has an even bigger plan—she’s baking up a strategy to get a cookbook out of Cita, ensuring that her treasured recipes and food legacy are preserved for generations to come.

The Heart of Home Cooking 💛

GG, Chef Ray’s late bonus mother, was a woman who believed that food should always be made with love and served with warmth.

Her kitchen wasn’t just a place where food was made—it was where memories were created, laughter echoed, and love was served in every bite. GG had a way of making even the simplest meals feel like a feast, infusing them with warmth, humor, and a pinch of wisdom.

She was an old-school cook who saved bacon grease in old oil bottles, using it to flavor everything from collard greens to the crispiest pancakes imaginable. Her pancakes, perfectly golden with crispy edges, were legendary. Every Saturday morning, they were served alongside crispy bacon, making sure everyone left the table full and happy.

GG was also the first person to teach Chef Ray how to make her sacred Shepherd’s Pie and guacamole, passing down recipes that hold a special place in her heart. Chef Ray stepped into her purpose as a professional chef, carrying GG’s love and lessons with her into every dish she creates.

The Vision That Came Full Circle 👨🍳

Mama Purcey, Chef Ray’s Hanai mother (adopted mother in Hawaiian culture), is more than just a 6th-grade teacher—she is the woman who saw Chef Ray’s culinary passion before she even realized it herself.

As a teacher, Mama Purcey would bring pans of homemade food to class, a gesture that made young Jasmine feel like she was getting a taste of home during the school day. It was in that classroom that a spark was lit—Chef Ray dreamed of one day starting a food business and retiring Mama Purcey.

While life had other plans, years later, that vision came full circle. Today, they stand side by side as business partners, bringing Harmony Provisions Kitchen to life together. Mama Purcey’s Hawaiian and Asian influences are woven into Harmony’s culinary experience, a reflection of how food connects us across generations, cultures, and time.

Beyond the Kitchen: Family + Faith 🙏💖

Outside of the kitchen, Chef Ray is a wife, dog mom, beauty professional, and the leader of a women's and outreach ministry.

She can be found praying for women on her prayer team, ministering the gospel, feeding the homeless, and embracing self-care—because health isn’t just physical, it’s mental and spiritual, too.

For Chef Ray, faith, family, and food are deeply intertwined. Whether she’s cooking a meal, mentoring women, or simply being present for her loved ones, everything she does is guided by the belief that nourishing the body and spirit go hand in hand.
